FIRST RELIGIOUS PROFESSION OF IHM SISTERS

FIRST IHM RELIGIOUS PROFESSION

On the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven, 10 Sisters professed their First Religious Vows on 15th August, 2021 at the IHM Novitiate Chapel, Nkpor.

Speaking on the visitation of Mary to her cousin, Elizabeth, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke, the Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese and the Metropolitan, Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, pointed out that Mary served in spite of her exulted position.  Her attitude did not change, she remained humble and her faith did not permit the devil to pull her down.

Further, the Archbishop stated that the lives of the saints help us to learn how to love better the Christian life.   To the new Sisters he said, “you have started well, the important thing is to continue well.  Our choices should be ones that will help us live better our lives.”

The Archbishop, who was the chief celebrant followed the rubrics of the rites of First Religious Profession.  Mother Mary Claude Oguh, the Superior General, Sisters of the Immaculate Heart  of Mary, Mother of Christ, received the Vows of the Sisters on behalf of the Institute and the Church.

The atmosphere was vibrant with echoes of joys of the Sisters, relatives, friends and well-wishers from the North, West, South and East of the country.

All were entertained after the Mass at the auditorium of the IHM Sisters’ Secretariat, Nkpor.
