JUBILEE FOR THE YEAR
There were three sets of Jubilarians; the Diamond, Golden and Silver celebrants. These number of years spent in the service of God, the Church, and humanity attracted different classes of people from the different dioceses of the Church in Nigeria.
Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese presided over the Mass. He celebrated with a host of other Priests from the parishes of the Jubilarians.
Speaking on living with wisdom, the Prelate said that whoever that lives good life is wise; and that it is important to consider the glory of God and the good of others when we make our choices. He explained the meaning of Jubilee and what it entails today in the stages of the life of the celebrants.
During the offertory the Jubilarians presented their special Jubilee symbol: image of Jesus, the Rock. One of the Jubilarians explained the symbol: amidst the waves of life of their years of Consecration, they are still standing because of Jesus, the Rock of their lives.
A reception was held for the Jubilarians at the Basilica Centenary Field after the Mass. Meanwhile, the Superior General with the entire members of the Congregation had organized a gala-night for the Jubilarians on the eve of the thanksgiving celebration at Nkpor.
