SAFEGUARDING IN ENGLAND

“You are the light of the world… Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:14,16).

Our Lord Jesus Christ demonstrates in this passage what He calls His followers to be in the world. He invites all Christians to be a light to others, with clergy and consecrated persons leading by example.

The Church is called to care for, protect, and shelter the “little ones” among us: the weak, the vulnerable, and the oppressed. As a loving Mother, the Church follows in the footsteps of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, by promoting dignity, compassion, and justice for all.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. It is not the task of a few, but the duty of all. Together, we must remain attentive, act with compassion, and do our part to ensure that every person is safe, respected, and protected.

May God grant us the grace to reveal His mercy, love, and healing to our brothers and sisters, especially those who are most in need of care and protection.
